  • Pay it Forward

    Pay it Forward!

    • I decided to try this pay it forward challenge I read about on OrionGazing's blog

Here are the rules as she got them from another blogger named That Bride's Blog:

"The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and pay it forward.
This is how it works... I am going to agree to send something fun, cute, or nice to the first 3 bloggers who post a comment on this entry. In turn, those three will post this information and pick 3 people they want to send something to and so on.

Unfortunately, due to postage costs, I can only pay it forward within the United States. If you are interested in participating, be one of the first 3 bloggers to leave a comment!

The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given or found. Just a gift that will make the person smile. So if you're interested, be one of the first three to leave a comment. You have to agree to pay it forward on your blog by posting this, linking to me, and paying it forward to three more people."

So, here's the deal: first you need to think about if you want to do this, be one of the first three people to comment if you do (hopefully three people WILL comment! lol), then send me a message with your address (I promise I will only use it for good), and lastly wait for the cool thing to come in the mail!*

*Please allow up to one month for the cool thing to arrive.

  • The Law of the Garbage Truck

This was sent to me in a forward, but since I do have really bad road rage, it made me stop and think...it's really good.

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.  We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.  My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!  The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.  My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.  And I mean he was really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that?  This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!"

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so..... 'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Let live, and let go."

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

  • Currently Watching
    Scrubs- Seasons 1-6

So if you read my myspace, you know that I have been sick this past week. Not fun. 4 days off work = 4 days worth of pay off my paycheck. I'm never going to be able to afford that new dirt bike...okay, kidding. Anyway, I have been laying around a lot and watching episodes of Scrubs. I love that show! I never used to watch it, but then Steph told me it was good, and now I am hooked. I really love the My Musical episode where the woman comes in with the brain tumor, and she thinks that everyone is singing. Guy Love...Turk and J.D....that's got to be my favorite.

Anyway, not much new to announce. As always my life is work and sleep. I wish I could change that, but don't know how. At least, not until all my student loans are paid off. Maybe if I work with Steph then it will be like a party everyday, and I won't even notice that it's work. Of course, it's not that I don't like the job I have now. I really do, and it's super easy...as long as you love doing math all day long...and I guess I do. The part that I hate is when a student comes to me with a math problem and even I can't figure it out and have to look up the solution. Some math teacher. Oh well, it's not what I went to school for anyway.

I don't think I mentioned on here, but I am going to be an aunt! I've known for awhile now, but my brother and SIL, Katie, are going to have a baby October 4ish. They don't know yet if it's a boy or a girl. I am hoping boy, secretly though, because everyone else is hoping girl. And I will, of course, be the best aunt in the world. I've already bought a bunch of baby presents, but I now refuse to buy clothes because I hate gender-unspecific clothing. I can't wait...in about a month we will know what color to go with. (Come on blue!)
